The Quapaw Nation received an allocation of Coronavirus Relief Funds from the United States Department of the Treasury as required by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act. These funds may be used to cover costs that are necessary expenditures incurred due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. The funds are for expenditures that were not accounted for in the Tribal budget and were incurred during the period March 1, 2020 and ending December 30, 2020.
On September 19, 2020, the Business Committee approved a second General Welfare Assistance Program as it relates to the coronavirus public health emergency. Within this program, tribal members will be able to apply for financial assistance to help offset increased expenses related to COVID-19.
Financial assistance in the amount of $2,000 for adult members (age 65+), $1,500 for adult members (ages 18-64) and $750 per child will be made available to each eligible enrolled member of the Quapaw Nation. Newly enrolled members over the age of 1 year old have a one year waiting period to receive tribal benefits. Payments to children will follow all social services guidelines relating to custodial parents/guardianship based on legal documentation that we have on file. An application will be mailed to the member’s address we have on file. It will also be available on our tribal website and Facebook page. The application period will end on November 7, 2020. Any applications postmarked after November 7, 2020 will not be processed and the member will forfeit their Coronavirus financial assistance payment. The options for submission are posted on the application. Applications will be processed as they are received. Please allow up to 30 calendar days for processing. All checks will be mailed, there will be no pickup of checks at the tribal office.
