Enhanced Risk for Severe Weather

Threat Information Requirement (TIR): Identify & Monitor R6 Weather Threats

Situation: On 07.14.2023, at 7:19am CDT, the National Weather Service (NWS) Norman, Oklahoma, issued an Enhanced Risk of severe thunderstorms capable of producing widespread damaging winds and large hail for northeastern Oklahoma this afternoon and evening, with a Slight risk in eastern Oklahoma and northwestern Arkansas as the storm moves through the region. There is a marginal chance of Tornados (2%) and a moderate chance of damaging winds (30%) with a 10% chance of significant (75+mph) winds.

Currently, the Region 6 IST Watch does not anticipate activating to an Enhanced Watch and continues to monitor the severe weather and plan accordingly.

FEMA R6 Watch will continue monitoring the situation, answering requests for information (RFIs) and report as additional information becomes available.  For daily updates, please log into the FEMA Region 6 Daily Situation Awareness Briefing M-F at 8:30 CT.  The FEMA-R6-Watch will follow-up with a more detailed SPOT Report if the incident exceeds the critical information requirement threshold.
